The Abilities Story

The Abilities Foundation supports the fund raising efforts of Abilities Group.

Abilities Group was established on Auckland's North Shore in 1959. It provides employment, opportunity and a sense of purpose for people that find it difficult, if not impossible; to obtain work in the community. Today the Abilities Group employs almost 150 people, mainly in essential environmental management and recycling activities.

For 60 years Abilities Group's vision has been, to enrich the lives of people with disabilities. It strives to provide an environment, and the resources; to assist those with disabilities to realise their often considerable personal potential, while simultaneously contributing to both the local and wider New Zealand economy and society.

Abilities earns most of its operating income by providing a range of environmental management and light manufacturing services to business.

The Abilities Foundation has been established to provide a secure, charity-based process for attracting and managing additional funds to enhance and build personal development programmes for our employees and others with disabilities.

Every gift helps

A gift in your Will or a donation to The Abilities Foundation makes an important difference.

Financial gifts, regardless of amount; provide valuable ongoing support for the individuals with disabilities that the Foundation assists.

Your money will be directed to where it is most needed.

It will for example:

• Help to purchase specialised equipment such as wheelchairs, adapted computers and software applications that enhance user capabilities.
• Help Abilities to provide mentoring to people who, by their commitment to work; show they want to do more with their lives and for their community.
• Help Abilities research the needs and solutions required to enhance the lives of individuals that are every day confronted by an array of obstacles.
• Allow The Abilities Foundation to provide, where needed; invaluable personal and health services advice.
• Fund projects that provide long term benefits for people with disabilities.

Remembering your generosity

Abilities will discuss with you how you would like your gift recorded. You may, for instance; wish to have a particular project named after you or wish to support a specific programme of personal interest.

Seeing is believing

Abilities is proud of its people and what they do to protect the environment and support businesses in Auckland's community. You are always welcome to visit us and see for yourself just how our particular solution to the problems people with disabilities encounter is working.

Making a difference is easy
